I’m committed to building and bridging skills honed through my experience and dedication to design and tech.

Top Strength: "Adaptability"

I bring an ambitious, opportunistic and resourceful approach to tech and its evolving tools.

As an architect (buildings) and developer (tech), I have come to approach skill-building as an inherent consequence of attaching a manner of adaptability to all things considered.

I believe the most essential skill is to be able to think and produce algorithmically. As a full stack developer, I stay up to speed with new tech by experimenting with new frameworks and nuanced workflows that exercises muscle memory and keeps the code flexible for growth and change.

My commitment is to be adaptable to new languages in order to grow, operate and contribute across platforms effectively and consistently.

I bring keen dexterity and constructive values to the modern collaborative environment.

Strength: "Mobility"

I am presently in pursuit of a Full Stack Software Development Diploma at Code Institute. As an active member of a program designed to replicate a modern Saas environment, I continue to appreciate the values and rewards of remote-based mentorship, work ethic and contribution.

Prior to this assignment, I had the privilege of working with Herzog & de Meuron and Foster + Partners on landmark projects in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. I obtained my Master of Architecture from Columbia University. I also hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Environmental Design from Otis College of Art and Design.

At Herzog & de Meuron in New York, I was immersed in the designed transformation of The Veteran’s Room at Park Avenue Armory. It is now a landmark cultural institution for the City, supporting education and events for a range of art forms. The achievement would not have been possible without the collaborative effort between NGOs, historic preservationists, local artisans, builders, and the leadership of our project architect. As a two-person team in our small satellite office, I was constantly challenged and excited by the breadth of execution and the depth of mentorship happening concurrently. The procedural revelation of layers and a reinterpretation of patterns to reconstitute a 140-year-old decorative scheme opened my eyes to actively discern what is of enduring aesthetic value.

At Foster + Partners Singapore, I spearheaded the efforts to document, bid and coordinate the fit-out of our new office in an 1850s heritage merchant building. In addition to authoring a comprehensive lease addendum to endorse all proposed building systems ranging from plumbing works for a new washroom and shower, mechanical works for new climate system, routing cables within wood panels for IT infrastructure, and a comprehensive security system, to our waste disposal; I managed our team resources to produce all drawing sets for costing and authority submissions. The result is a fully functional branded environment that establishes reconnaissance with a completely new culture and place.

I believe mastering default settings is the key to innovating effective alternatives.

Most lauded for: “Documentation style”

I strive to build product that showcases useful, educational and aesthetically pleasing documentation from conception to release.

My work is driven by an ambition to mastering default settings in order to innovate and propose its effective alternative. The results I produce are enabled by my commitment to thorough testing and representation of my ideas. I take pride in my ability to communicate through many different media, a skill strengthened by my proficiency at rapidly developing digital systems to visualize design iterations.

I am trained to write code with a didactic sensibility: the assumption that someone else will read it to learn from it. I invariably ensure that code is readable, well-formatted, well-tested, well-cited and well-documented. As a result, I program in a component-based manner in order to accommodate and facilitate growth and change.

As a resourceful and opportunistic developer with a design background, I am trained to approach problems with precedent and testing that yields a marketplace of solutions. This approach to solution-finding has taught me the rigor and importance of building muscle-memory while maintaining a fresh perspective toward old, existing and nuanced ideas. This has also taught me the values of seeing a problem from an angle that is different or unexplored without ever losing sight of the end goal.

Mr. Sanez takes the initiative to identify problems and devise solutions. His role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, and he has shown that he not only has these skills, but that he also has the ability to inspire respect and cooperation in teammates. He has shown that he is a very intelligent person with a mind well-suited to any challenge he may come across.

To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter to offer my highest recommendations for Mr. Joem Elias Sanez.

Mr. Sanez was the TA for my Fall 2010 theory class “Corporate and Consumer Environments” at OTIS College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. The class is committed to investigate the history and the theory of interior architecture. Drawing from literature and case study research, the course explores interior conditions and unfolds trends, patterns, and tensions of social and cultural production. Through lectures, discussions, and presentations, the discoveries are cross-referenced with theories on space construction to challenge the normalization of type and performance and thus instigate the interior’s transgressive potential.

Mr. Sanez was a great resource. His participation in lectures and seminars marked a tone for the entire class. He has great knowledge in both history and theory, and a critical approach to disciplinary practices that makes him valuable for academic pursues. Mr. Sanez was responsible for reading and grading the weekly assignments -- a duty he fulfilled in the best way possible. He also collaborated with me on the organization and execution of the midterm and on the grading of the final assignments. I was impressed by his dedication, enthusiasm, and overall responsible and hard work oriented disposition. I have no hesitation to recommend Mr. Sanez with the highest recommendations I could offer anyone. He is a very responsible and hard working person and an exceptional person of caliber and talent.

Joem was the best student in my architecture studio at Otis College of Art and Design, and one of the best students I've had in all the colleges and universities at which I have taught.

He excelled because he was very curious to learn and extremely hardworking, constantly pushing his own boundaries, trying and testing his designs in a variety of mediums (computer, real world model, concept, sketches). He is a passionate designer and has the ability to be self-critical.
